The forest kingdom of Ambala is located north of the desert of Kuneer, and west of the forest kingdom of Tyto. This is the owl kingdom where Hortense, aka Mist, was born. This is also where most owls, like spotted owls, fish owls, etc. live. Basically, all owls but ones in Tyto, Kuneer or the North live there.

During Soren and Gylfie's days at St. Aggie's, Gylfie saw Hortense (then known as 12-8) smuggling eggs to a bald eagle so they could be returned to their homes in Ambala, proving that she was not moon blinked. When Soren and Gylfie confronted Hortense, she explained to them why she was in St. Aggie's. She explained that in the forest kingdom of Ambala, the snatching from the St. Aggie's patrols had been increasingly heavy, so one of their bravest owls, Cedric, sacrificed an egg from his and his mate's nest just so he could follow them to discover the stony maze of canyons in which they lived. Hortense also informed that the owls who live there tells stories of heros, which includes herself. She was later pushed off a cliff by Aunt Finny , and because of her crippled wings she was presumed to be dead. In honor of her, owls in Ambala began naming their newly hatched chicks Hortense (ironically, Hortense dislikes her name), even if they were male. Later in the series, she turned out to have been saved by Streak, and was now known as Mist.

DescriptionEdit

Ambala is a slightly marshy forest with both coniferous and dedicous trees. Many streams and rivers run throughout the location, which are filled with a high abundance of flecks.

Cold and dry in winter, fairly cool in fall and spring, warm in summer, with an average amount of rain
