Tasmanian devils are carnivorous marsupials that live in the forest kingdom of Tyto. It is unknown if they live anywhere else (See Behind the Scenes for further info). One only appeared in the movie, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.
After Soren and Kludd fell from their hollow, a vicious Tasmanian devil spotted them and started stalking them from the undergrowth. The carnivore then lept out from it's hiding place and attacked them. It pinned Kludd down and scarred his face, but before it could bite him, Soren attacked the devil to save his brother. However, the marsupial quickly overpowered Soren, and knocked him down. The Tasmanian Devil then stalked toward Soren, preparing to kill him, but before it could do so, it was suddenly attacked by arriving St. Aggie's patrols Jatt and Jutt, who captured Soren and Kludd afterwards.
It is unknown what happened to the Tasmanian Devil after this.
Behind the Scenes
- Tasmanian devils are only found in Australia, which means that in the movie, the forest kingdom of Tyto must be located somewhere in that continent, since the movie was made in Australia. Specifically, the devils are only found in the Australian island state of Tasmania, explaining the name, which may further explain the location of the forest kingdom in the movie. It could make sense that Tyto is located in Australia since owls of the genus Tyto can be found there. However, most of the other owl species are chiefly North American. Furthermore, just west of the Ga'Hoole kingdoms, there are the Wolves of Beyond, and the only wolves known to live in Australia are dingos, while the characters in Wolves of Beyond are gray wolves, which are strictly North American and Eurasian.
- There is a tasmanian devil in this film, and Digger also mentions dingos, which live in different parts of Australia meaning that the group traveled to the other side of the continent.
